A former superstar who had a controversial exit from WWE was reportedly spotted backstage at a recent NXT taping.
According to False Finish, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore has been at the Performance Center recently, including ahead of last night’s NXT taping. The same was reported in a recent episode of the Self Made Session podcast, revealing that the promotion was in contact with him during WrestleMania 42 weekend.
While there are no details on how the reported negotiation is progressing, Fightful (via Fightful Select) recently reported that Big Bill’s (Big Cass) contract with AEW will be up in late May or early June, fueling rumors of a potential WWE return. Coupled with the latest reports, fans are now speculating whether the two stars will reunite in WWE in the coming days.
Enzo Amore & Big Bill had controversial exits from WWE
WWE suspended Enzo Amore on January 22, 2018, due to sexual assault allegations and subsequently released him the next day. However, authorities later dropped the investigation into the allegation due to insufficient evidence. After his release, Amore attended the 2018 Survivor Series and caused a commotion in the crowd, leading to security removing him from the Staples Center and the venue banning him from attending future events.
Enzo Amore announced his retirement after the WWE release, but eventually returned to in-ring competition on the independent circuit under the names nZo and Real1.
Big Bill also had a controversial exit from WWE in June 2018 after reports revealed that it was due to behavioral issues. He then competed in the independent circuit and had a brief run in TNA/Impact Wrestling before signing a full-time contract with AEW in August 2022. He also reunited with Enzo Amore in the indies and teamed up with him at the Jericho Cruise event in February 2025.
