WWE Live Event Future Hinges On Two Major Factors — Report

The future of WWE live events reportedly depends on two major factors.

In recent years, WWE has significantly cut back on non-televised live events (house shows). This was done to ease the workload on its talent and reduce the amount of time they spend on the road. The promotion hosts regular NXT live events. However, the last time a main roster event took place was on February 14 in Lubbock, Texas.

WWE recently announced several non-televised live events for its upcoming Summer Tour in Europe and the United States, which will run from late May to late August. Now, Wrestlevotes Radio (via Fightful Select) is reporting that the promotion could announce more such shows.

WWE is using this summer’s live events to determine if they will continue

According to the report, the summer live events will determine if a more extensive winter loop could happen. However, the possibility depends upon two factors. Mainly, WWE is monitoring the financial success of the summer shows and the wrestlers’ health over the tours.

WWE reportedly approached select main roster talent about working the planned live events, giving them the option to decline if they want. In addition, 25-30 talents are expected per show.

While the reduced live event schedule offered the WWE Superstars a lesser workload, it was the same logic the promotion recently used to ask several wrestlers to take significant pay cuts. It resulted in the New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods walking away after a long tenure with the company.
