John Cena Reveals How Long He Plans To Stay With WWE

John Cena recently opened up about how long he plans to stay connected with WWE following his retirement from in-ring competition.

Cena officially retired from active wrestling after his farewell tour in 2025. His final WWE match took place on December 13, 2025. Although his in-ring career is over, Cena signed a five-year deal with WWE.

He remains with the company as a global brand ambassador. Since retiring, Cena has continued contributing creatively to WWE, including launching the new John Cena Classic tournament.

John Cena says he’ll stay in WWE until they ‘boot’ him out

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Cena discussed his post-wrestling future and explained that he never had a single moment where he decided to fully leave wrestling behind for Hollywood. He said, “So, I don’t ever think I had a moment like that, right? Um, the other job is time-specific anyway.”

“And that, I mean, I made a promise to the audience in my young 20s that when I was a step slower, I was gonna call it a career physically, and I’ll always be involved in WWE for as long as they’ll have me.”

“They will have to boot me out of the door, which I fully expect. You know, time is undefeated. Everybody’s got their tenure, but as long as they have me, I’ll be in WWE. I think it was, which is a great question by the way, but I think for me it was more of, okay, my heart and focus are here and I enjoy it.”
