Rhea Ripley may be one of WWE’s biggest stars today, but even Mami once had to change something because of Roman Reigns. The WWE Women’s Champion recently revealed that she changed her autograph after realizing it looked too similar to OTC’s signature.
Ripley has always cared a lot about creating her own identity in WWE. Over the years, she has changed many parts of her presentation to better match her personality.
Earlier in NXT, Ripley had long blonde hair with almost no tattoos and wore more traditional wrestling gear. Later, she completely changed her look into the darker gothic style. She also changed her finishing move because of health concerns and to avoid long-term damage.
And of course, her name was changed after joining WWE. Ripley’s real name is Demi Bennett, but she adopted the Rhea Ripley name after signing with WWE in 2017.
Rhea Ripley Reveals Roman Reigns Was The Reason She Changed Her Signature
Ripley shared the funny story while opening WWE trading card packs for Topps. In the video, she pulled a signed Roman Reigns card and immediately remembered the issue.
“Is that a Roman? Oh, it is a Roman. A signed Roman Reigns! I’m guessing by everyone’s reaction that is pretty good! That is the signature that I wanted to do since we are both RR, and I couldn’t because thank you, Roman. It’s the easiest,” she said.
Both stars have the initials “RR.” Ripley’s old autograph used a large “R” with a long line underneath it, which looked very similar to Roman Reigns’ signature style.
Reigns’ autograph has become well-known over the years because of the sweeping underline connected to the “R.” Ripley eventually decided to change her own signature so it would feel more unique and not look like she was copying him.
