Brian Myers has been around wrestling forever. Recently, he recalled what it was like to meet, and train, a young MJF.
Speaking during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Myers recalled meeting a young Maxwell Jacob Friedman during at Create-A-Pro, a wrestling academy. Perhaps unsurprisingly, MJF showed extreme promise even back then.
“Yeah, I’ll never forget it. It was very early on… first year of Create A Pro… his dad came in with him and it almost felt like ‘here he’s your problem now’… we did a promo class where he just murdered this kid and I was like okay, there’s something about this guy,” said Myers.
Myers also spoke about MJF’s history as an athlete. The star was a former college football prospect, and Myers said he would eventually come to understand that MJF’s abilities are severely underrated due to how talented he is on the microphone, and that MJF should be “studied” by young guys for all he does.
Of course, MJF would go on to become a dominant force in wrestling. He recently recaptured the AEW World Championship at AEW’s Double or Nothing, and looks to start a brand new reign over the top of All Elite Wrestling as a result.
