MJF Shuts Down Claim He Supported Darby Allin’s AEW Title Reign

MJF has publicly pushed back against a recent report regarding Darby Allin’s AEW World Championship reign, taking to social media to dismiss the claim in character just days after reclaiming the title at Double or Nothing.

The newly crowned three-time AEW World Champion didn’t mince words when responding to the report, creating yet another chapter in his long-running rivalry with Allin.

However, the timing of the response has raised eyebrows given what was originally reported.

MJF fires back at report about Darby Allin’s AEW Championship run

Following Double or Nothing 2026, where MJF defeated Darby Allin to regain the AEW World Championship, a Fightful Select report noted that several sources believed Friedman had been supportive of Allin’s world title reign for quite some time.

The report also highlighted praise for Allin’s efforts as champion, with many applauding the former titleholder for going the extra mile during his 39-day reign, which included eight successful title defenses.

That claim didn’t sit well with MJF’s public persona.

Responding on X, Friedman directly rejected the report and called for it to be corrected through Community Notes. He wrote:

“@CNviolations @CommunityNotes This article is false.”

He then doubled down on the denial with a characteristically sharp follow-up:

“I hate Darby Allin. If he died I would laugh. Plz fix this. Thanks.”

The response appeared to be a classic case of MJF protecting his on-screen image. The two stars have spent years as rivals in AEW, and Friedman has built much of his reputation around being one of wrestling’s most unapologetic villains.

In that sense, admitting support for Allin’s success would be a difficult pill to swallow — even for The Devil.

Meanwhile, MJF’s focus now shifts back to the ring. During this week’s Dynamite, he rejected a challenge from Mark Briscoe but agreed to defend the AEW World Championship against RUSH.

The match is scheduled for next Wednesday’s Dynamite and will mark the first title defense of MJF’s third reign.
