Producer Behind AAA’s El Grande Americano Mask vs. Mask Match Revealed — REPORT

AAA’s critically acclaimed El Grande Americano mask vs. mask showdown continues to generate headlines days after Noche de los Grandes. A new report has shone a spotlight on a key figure who worked behind the scenes to bring the match together.

According to reports from Super Luchas editor Ernesto Ocampo, one WWE star played a much larger role in the bout than many fans realized.

While the focus remained on El Grande Americano and The Original El Grande Americano inside the ring, another familiar name helped orchestrate the action from behind the curtain.

Pete Dunne reportedly produced El Grande Americano’s AAA main event

Ocampo reported that Pete Dunne served as the producer for the mask vs. mask match between El Grande Americano, portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser, and The Original El Grande Americano, who later unveiled himself as Chad Gable.

“Someone who hasn’t been credited for the El Grande Americano vs. Original Grande Americano feud at #AAANocheDeLosGrandes is Pete Dunne, who was the producer of that match,” Ocampo wrote.

The match headlined AAA’s Noche de los Grandes event in Monterrey, Mexico. It served as the culmination of a storyline that stretched across WWE and AAA programming.

Along the way, the rivalry featured involvement from the Creed Brothers, Los Americanos, Pimpinela Escarlata, Andrea Bazarte, and even Rayo Americano — Dunne’s own masked persona.

The bout concluded with Kaiser defeating Gable, forcing The Original El Grande Americano to unmask and officially reveal his identity. The dramatic payoff received widespread praise from fans and critics. They highlighted the emotional storytelling and strong presentation throughout the contest.

Dunne’s reported involvement becomes notable given his expanding responsibilities behind the scenes. In addition to his in-ring career, he has worked as a WWE producer in recent years. Moreover, he has reportedly become one of the key producers within AAA since WWE acquired the promotion.

The success of Noche de los Grandes has also been reflected in audience numbers. Combined viewership across WWE’s and AAA’s YouTube uploads surpassed 2.24 million views within days of the event. This proves the storyline struck a chord with wrestling fans on both sides of the border.

For Pete Dunne, it appears the match wasn’t just a production assignment — it was another feather in his cap behind the scenes.
