Janel Grant, Vince McMahon and WWE Jointly Ask Court to Move Lawsuit to Arbitration

A major update has emerged in the lawsuit involving Janel Grant, Vince McMahon, and WWE.

The high-profile sex trafficking lawsuit could soon move out of the public eye, as the parties involved have reportedly filed a joint motion to continue the litigation through private arbitration.

According to POST Wrestling, the motion was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. Judge Sarah F. Russell has yet to rule on the request jointly submitted by Grant, McMahon, and WWE.

The one-paragraph filing states that the parties are “in active discussions regarding a potential agreement to arbitrate the dispute in confidential arbitration,” which would render the defendants’ motion to compel arbitration moot.

The parties had been scheduled to attend a hearing on June 16 to argue that issue, as well as whether Grant would be permitted to obtain evidence from the defendants in support of her position regarding arbitration. The filing requests that the hearing be postponed, or “temporarily adjourned,” with a status update due within three weeks.

Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon first surfaced in January 2024. In the aftermath of the filing, McMahon resigned from all roles within WWE and TKO. Former WWE executive John Laurinaitis was also named as a defendant before being removed from the case following an agreement to provide Grant with evidence related to the lawsuit in May 2025.

Both McMahon and Laurinaitis have denied the allegations made against them in the lawsuit.
