AEW’s Jack Perry appears to reference WWE‘s CM Punk with a “burned bridge” post.
Former AEW National Champion posted an image on his Instagram story, which showed a bridge engulfed in flames with a monkey-like figure holding a torch. While he didn’t provide any additional context, fans believe the post is in reference to a recent report about CM Punk.
Amid his absence from WWE television since RAW after WrestleMania 42, rumors about CM Punk asking for his release from the promotion emerged over the past few days. However, Fightful (via Fightful Select) addressed all those speculations in their recent report. Apart from talking about his current status with WWE, they also touched on Punk’s relationship with AEW.
AEW fired CM Punk over his backstage altercation with Jack Perry
CM Punk had a controversial exit from AEW in 2023 after Tony Khan fired him over a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at that year’s All In pay-per-view. Fightful noted that people within the company have long believed the bridge will be rebuilt, regardless of whether he works there again. While it may not involve everyone the Straight Edge Superstar had an issue with, Fightful stated that people hit them with the classic “never say never” when they asked if he had burned that bridge completely.
While the report notes that people hope that CM Punk and AEW will mend their relationship, Jack Perry seems to imply that the bridge is burnt for good and can never be rebuilt.
Jack Perry last wrestled on AEW television on the May 27 episode of Dynamite, where he lost to Mark Davis in the first round of the men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. He had also lost the National Championship to Davis a few days before on the May 9 Fairway To Hell edition of Collision.
