Michael Cole welcomes the WWE Universe to the O2 Arena in London for RAW. A video package narrated by Wade Barrett highlighting the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments airs. Cole then previews the lineup for the final episode of WWE RAW before Night of Champions.
The Ruler has arrived!
Oba Femi’s music blasts through the arena speakers as The Ruler, and possibly the next King of the Ring, struts his way to the ring. The crowd can’t seem to stop chanting “Oba,” and Femi is appreciative, calling them wonderful. Oba says he would love for the fans to chant his name, but before he can continue, the crowd interrupts him with another round of “Oba” chants.
Oba tells the fans to settle down. He says he has been backed by destiny since birth. It was destiny that allowed him to slay The Beast, Brock Lesnar. Oba adds that it is destiny that will make him King of the Ring at Night of Champions.
However, Oba says he faces another dilemma after winning King of the Ring. Does he challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship? The crowd responds much louder when he mentions the World Heavyweight Title.
YEET!
Jey Uso interrupts. The Yeet Master takes his time making his entrance through the crowd before bringing the YEET party to ringside. Jey teases running back his entrance, but Oba cuts him off—only for Jey to still replay his music anyway. After the hype settles, Jey begins his promo.
He calls himself “Him” and vows to silence his critics and haters by winning King of the Ring. As for which title he wants to pursue, Jey says he’ll challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Jey warns Oba that this is his warning shot.
Oba takes over the promo and mocks him, saying he isn’t the family member he’s worried about. He warns Jey not to miss his shot because if he does, Oba will destroy him—and even if he doesn’t, he’ll still get destroyed by The Ruler.
Backstage segment ft. Adam Pearce, LA Knight & Jimmy Uso
Adam Pearce is on a call backstage when he bumps into LA Knight. Knight wonders if the WWE RAW General Manager is on the phone with Roman Reigns. He then brings up The Bloodline, specifically Jacob Fatu’s actions from last week.
Pearce says that Jacob Fatu has been fined for attacking Eric Andre in a fit of rage. Jimmy Uso interrupts and tells Knight he had his back last week. The confrontation gets heated, and Pearce tells Knight to shut up, who tells Pearce to shut up in return. Pearce is irate and announces Jimmy Uso vs. LA Knight for later tonight.
Knight challenges Jimmy to a match, and Jimmy says that’s what Pearce just said. Knight replies that he didn’t hear a word Pearce said and drops another dose of sarcasm on both the matchmaker and Jimmy before walking off frame, delivering his signature “Yeah!” catchphrase.
We hear from Bayley and Lyra Valkyria
Jackie Redmond is standing by with Lyra Valkyria and Bayley. Valkyria says tonight is finally their time to become Women’s Tag Team Champions. Bayley chimes in, saying they’ve been the best in the women’s tag team division for quite some time and puts over her tag team partner for getting them this title opportunity.
Lyra looks visibly tense but manages to regain her composure as they prepare for their match in just a few moments.
Brie Bella & Paige (c) vs. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
- The finish of the match saw Paige reverse Lyra Valkyria’s fisherman’s buster into a Rampaige DDT for the win.
Winners and still WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions: Brie Bella and Paige
Lyra and Bayley are heartbroken, but Bayley manages to keep her emotions in check. She checks on her partner and tries to cheer her up. The two share a hug, but Lyra suddenly snaps and sends Bayley throat-first into the ring rope, turning against her tag team partner in the process.
She then unloads with right and left hands on her mentor as commentary notes that repeated losses have finally gotten to Lyra. Officials intervene, but Lyra gets past them and plants Bayley with a Nightwing. She then leaves the ring as Bayley tries to recover.
RELATED: Becky Lynch Reacts to Major Heel Turn on WWE RAW
Grade: B+
The match itself was boring, but the post-match angle was entertaining. After months of teasing Bayley’s heel turn, WWE pulled a swerve by turning Lyra against her tag team partner instead.
This is the kind of direction I’ve been hoping for Lyra to get for quite some time. This feud is going to be interesting.
Lyra Valkyria doesn’t want to address her heel turn
Jackie Redmond tries to get a word with Lyra, but she is overwhelmed with emotion. Redmond attempts again to get her attention, but Lyra simply says, “Jackie,” with a tense look on her face before walking away.
Chad Gable’s redemption arc continues
Chad Gable gets a big pop from the London crowd, with “Gable” chants echoing through the arena. Gable says he has finally managed to see the errors of his ways after losing his mask.
He then asks his former stablemates Otis, Maxxine, and Tozawa to join him in the ring. The trio emerges and joins Master Gable in the ring. Gable puts over Maxxine for winning a singles title (Women’s Intercontinental Championship), something Gable himself hasn’t been able to achieve thus far. He calls his treatment of Maxxine pathetic.
Gable then expresses regret over what he did to Tozawa. He shifts his attention to Otis, calling him the most loyal friend of them all. Gable brings up their history, saying they’ve known each other for 20 years and that Otis held his daughters the day after they were born.
He admits he was blinded by his greed for the Intercontinental Championship and asks for an apology from Otis, offering a handshake. Otis is clearly overwhelmed with emotion, teasing the handshake.
However, Maxxine steps in and snaps the mic away from Chad. She then unloads her pent-up anger on her former mentor. Maxxine tells Chad she practically begged him against his treatment of Otis and Tozawa.
She says she realized Gable’s true intentions when she won the Intercontinental title. Maxxine adds that Gable is only asking for an apology to stroke his own ego. She says they don’t need him and walks away with Tozawa. Otis lingers briefly, staring at Gable, before leaving with Tozawa and Maxxine.
Backstage segment ft. Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio & Penta
Dragon Lee is walking to the ring for his match when he bumps into Rey Mysterio, who tells him to beat some respect into Ethan Page. Penta shows up and offers some pep talk for his fellow luchador. Dragon Lee then continues his way to the ring for the next match on WWE RAW.
Dragon Lee vs. Ethan Page
- The finish of the match saw Ethan Page plant Dragon Lee with an Ego-Plex for the win.
Winner: Ethan Page
Grade: B+
I like when luchadores get stiff. Page got a laceration near his eye during the top rope double stomp spot.
Cole and Graves revealed that the Prime Minister of the UK had resigned during the commercial break, and Corey referring to Ethan Page as “Prime Minister Ethan Page” was a joke I enjoyed.
We hear from The Vision
Jackie Redmond is standing by with Austin Theory, Logan Paul (who is wearing an arm brace), and Bron Breakker.
Austin Theory fires off on the RAW roster for constantly targeting their faction. Paul claims he’s healing faster than anybody who’s ever healed. Breakker is visibly breaking character, prompting the camera to move away from his face.
Paul mentions Seth Rollins, which leads Breakker to take over the promo. Breakker says they’re going to retain their World Tag Team Titles against the Street Profits tonight on WWE RAW before he rips Rollins’ head off in their Steel Cage match at Night of Champions this Saturday.
Celebrity guests on WWE RAW
Action star Jason Statham is in the crowd for WWE RAW.
Zuffa Boxing’s Lee Cutler and Alex MacMillan, former boxer Derek Chisora, and UFC’s Michael “Venom” Page are also in attendance. Cole and Graves acknowledge their presence.
In the ring, Jackie Redmond announces one of the finalists in the Queen of the Ring: IYO SKY. The former Women’s World Champion is in a jovial mood. She thanks the crowd and vows to become Queen of the Ring before Liv Morgan interrupts.
Liv Morgan trash talks IYO SKY while making her way to the ring. IYO fires back, asking if Liv is sure the Queen of the Ring crown is going to “fit your big head.”
Morgan blindsides her with a cheap shot, but IYO retaliates and drops the Women’s World Champion with a springboard dropkick. IYO then performs a kip-up and hits her signature emote as Liv Morgan looks on in shock outside the ring.
Backstage segment ft. The Usos & Jacob Fatu
Jey bumps into Jimmy backstage and asks if he needs help tonight against LA Knight. Jimmy says he’s good and tells Jey to focus on the King of the Ring finals.
Jacob Fatu shows up wearing an Umaga t-shirt. Jey asks where he was and, more importantly, why he was talking to Solo Sikoa last week on SmackDown. Jacob says he doesn’t answer to Jey and that he was simply following Roman Reigns’ orders . Jimmy adds that Solo doesn’t take orders well. Jacob responds that they don’t need to worry because Solo got the message, and now they just have to wait.
Former Champion gets cursed on WWE RAW
Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh confront Danhausen for stealing their $100,000 last week.
Danhausen says he didn’t steal their money—he “took it” and bought himself some experimental equipment, pointing to a set of electrical devices sitting on a table nearby. McDonagh gets confrontational, only to get cursed by Danhausen.
Dominik Mysterio says JD is “uncursable.” JD touches the equipment and gets electrocuted, in a callback to the Miz segment on SmackDown from a few weeks ago. JD gets back up, and his ponytail is gone, but Danhausen is nowhere to be seen.
LA Knight vs. Jimmy Uso
- The finish of the match saw LA Knight capitalize on the distraction caused by Solo Sikoa to hit Jimmy Uso with a BFT for the win.
Winner: LA Knight
We hear from The Street Profits
Jackie Redmond asks the Street Profits if they’re ready to become five-time WWE Tag Team Champions.
Angelo Dawkins says they are ready. Montez Ford adds that The Vision is impaired and their “London Bridge is going down” because “The Street Profits are up, and we want the smoke.”
Austin Theory, Logan Paul, and Bron Breakker are shown next as we await tonight’s main event.
‘Prime Minister Danhausen’
Danhausen appears during the commercial break to reference being confronted by “Dominik Mysterio and some guy.” He adds that he gets confronted every week and that it makes him wonder if he needs security, because he’s reached celebrity status.
Danhausen then puts himself over as “Prime Minister Danhausen” to the delight of London crowd as the segment ends.
Bayley doesn’t want to talk
Jackie Redmond approaches Bayley in the trainer’s room and asks if she can comment on Lyra Valkyria’s actions earlier tonight. Bayley refuses to address the situation and gets out of the room, still reeling from the effects of Lyra’s attack.
Judgment Day segment
Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez are in the Judgment Day clubhouse when Dominik Mysterio brings in an electrocuted JD McDonagh. Liv Morgan shows up and makes everything about herself following her confrontation with IYO SKY.
Raquel tells her to read the room as she reveals that Dominik got his money stolen and McDonagh got electrocuted. Liv tells Raquel to focus on beating Sol Ruca for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, prompting Roxanne to ask, “What about me?”
Liv dodges the question by turning her attention back to Dominik and McDonagh as they leave the room to fetch a doctor for McDonagh.
Seth Rollins addresses his WWE Night of Champions match
WWE RAW features Seth Rollins in a sit-down interview. Rollins addresses his upcoming Steel Cage match against Bron Breakker. Despite being eliminated from the King of the Ring tournament in the early stages, Rollins vows to get back into the World Title picture once he’s done with The Vision.
Dominik Mysterio wants an apology from Chad Gable
Chad Gable is talking about a potential shot at Penta’s Intercontinental Title backstage with Adam Pearce when Dominik Mysterio bumps into them.
Dominik mocks Gable for not getting his apology accepted by Alpha Academy. He then tells Gable to apologize to him since Dom is the “King of luchadores,” and Gable is out here handing out apologies to luchadores. Dominik also tells Adam Pearce to apologize to him for not finding his lost money. Pearce responds, “Your money, your problem.”
Gable says it was Dominik who sent him to Mexico in the first place and suggests they settle it in the ring. Dominik says he doesn’t just hand out matches and tells Gable he can take on JD McDonagh, who is still feeling the effects of the electrocution.
Pearce questions whether McDonagh is fit enough to compete as we head into the main event of the night.
The Vision (c) vs. The Street Profits – World Tag Team Championship
- The finish of the match saw Montez Ford hit a frog splash on Austin Theory following run-ins by Joe Hendry and Seth Rollins for the win.
Winners and new World Tag Team Champions: The Street Profits
Grade: A-
I predicted Joe Hendry’s appearance here. As for the outcome, I’m happy that the Street Profits are tag team champions once again in WWE. This reign needs to be consistent and lengthy.
Let’s see how Bron Breakker punishes Seth Rollins for his actions when they collide in the steel cage this Saturday at Night of Champions.
Overall Grade: B+
Four moments that stood out for me on WWE RAW this week: Lyra Valkyria’s heel turn, Ethan Page vs. Dragon Lee, Maxxine Dupri ditching Chad Gable’s apology, and the tag team title change in the main event. Of course, Danhausen, with his comedic genius, gets a special shoutout. I also like the slow-burning feud between Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez.
My hopes for LA Knight winning a world title have dropped drastically, hence I didn’t grade his match against Jimmy Uso. Speaking of matches, the competitors in the women’s tag team title match were too loud with their spot calls. Also, I’m not a fan of Jey yelling “bang.” Uce cannot sound tough no matter how hard he tries.
That’s it for tonight, and let’s see what the go-home episode of WWE SmackDown for Night of Champions has in store for us.
