Jay White Returns to AEW After More Than a Year Away Due to Injury

Jay White is finally back in AEW after more than a year away due to injury.

“Switchblade” Jay White was out of in-ring action since March 2025 as he underwent surgeries to repair his hand and shoulder. His appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in January 2026 for Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement caused fans to believe he could be good to return to the ring. However, it took five more months for him to get physical inside the squared circle, and it happened at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door earlier tonight.

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against David Finlay and Clark Connors of The Dogs at the event. Both teams pushed each other to the absolute limit throughout the match. Finlay set up Cope for a shillelagh shot in the final moments, but the lights went out. When it came back, the members of the Bang Bang Gang were on the stage, and when it went out and came back again, Jay White stood behind Finlay in the ring.

David Finlay swung the shillelagh at Jay White, but ended up eating a Blade Runner from the Switchblade. White then offered Finlay to Adam Copeland, who hit him with a spear for the pin and retained the championship.

Jay White then grabbed the titles and handed one over to Copeland, but Christian Cage snatched the other from his hands, clearly not trusting him. White left the ring to join the Bang Bang Gang on the stage as Cope and Cage celebrated their victory inside the ring.
