Kendal Grey paid tribute to Kurt Angle with her WWE NXT Women’s Championship win at Great American Bash.
Kendal Grey became the No.1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Kelani Jordan on the June 9, 2026, episode of NXT. She faced Lola Vice for the title in the main event of the Great American Bash event earlier tonight.
After a hard-fought match that lasted a bit over 15 minutes, Kendal Grey scored a pinfall victory by performing a springboard Shades of Grey on Lola Vice to win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time in her career. However, another thing that stood out was her tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle as she wore gear that paid homage to his iconic red, white, and blue star-spangled singlet.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently compared Kendal Grey to the Olympic Gold Medalist, saying she was on track to become the “Kurt Angle of the women.” AJ Styles also had high praise for Grey, saying he has “scary talent” similar to that of Chad Gable.
Kendal Grey quietly became one of NXT’s breakout stars and impressed the fans. The momentum she continued to build leading up to the event helped her to overcome Lola Vice and walk out as the new NXT Women’s Champion.
