Darby Allin took a brutal thumbtack spot during the massive 12-man steel cage match at AEW Forbidden Door.
The penultimate match of the 2026 AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view featured the 12-man steel cage match between Team Briscoe and Team MJF-Don Callis Family. The promotion introduced a custom circular cage for the massive contest. The bout was chaotic as expected, as the stars used all the weapons they could get their hands on, including an NES console and a pair of controllers, to inflict punishment on each other.
Mark Briscoe poured out a pile of thumbtacks onto the mat at one point in the match, but ended up becoming the first person to get dropped onto them. Darby Allin then entered the ring with a skateboard to attack Kyle Fletcher, but MJF took him out from behind. Allin fought back and tried to launch the AEW World Champion into the tacks.
However, MJF performed a back body drop on Darby Allin, turning him inside out and sending him face-first into the thumbtacks, and one tack appeared to have connected with his eye. Ospreay had already been bodyslammed onto thumbtacks by his mother at his wedding yesterday, and he had to take an even more brutal one tonight.
However, the match was far from over and went on for a while before the final sequence. The contest ended with a surprising twist as Andrade El Idolo turned on MJF and the Don Callis Family, and destroyed Jack Doyle’s family jewels with a brutal kick. He then offered Doyle to Mark Briscoe, who hit a Jay Driller on him for the win, and earned himself a shot at MJF’s AEW World Championship.
