Sheamus and The New Day have recently sparked plenty of AEW rumors. Now, one top AEW star has shared his thoughts and his response quickly got wrestling fans talking online.
Recent reports claimed Sheamus could soon be leaving WWE. The veteran reportedly turned down a restructured contract extension. His current deal is now expected to expire soon. Fans also noticed another interesting change this week.
Sheamus was moved to WWE’s alumni section online. That move has added even more speculation about his future. Back in May, The New Day faced a similar situation when WWE released Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Their departures came after contract restructuring discussions.
Since then, many fans have linked all three stars with AEW. The rumors grew even stronger after AEW World Champion MJF called out Sheamus on social media. However, AEW star Ricochet doesn’t believe those rumors.
Ricochet reacts to Sheamus and The New Day joining AEW
Ricochet took to X, formerly known as Twitter, shutting down the growing speculation. He wrote, “Everyone, listen. Neither New Day or Sheamo is coming to @AEW. FOR 1. I’d kick Kofi and Creed’s ass in @Tekken. They know that. And 2, I’d simply just kick Sheamus’ ass. Its easy. Don’t get your hopes up. ??? #Ahaa”
Meanwhile, The New Day cannot immediately join another promotion. They are currently serving their reported 90-day non-compete clauses. Sheamus could also find himself in a similar situation once his current contract expires.
