Sheamus’ departure from WWE has quickly sparked speculation about his next destination, with many fans wondering whether a reunion of The Bar could be on the horizon in AEW.
Claudio Castagnoli has now addressed those rumors, but he stopped well short of offering any definitive answers.
Instead of adding fuel to the fire, the former WWE Tag Team Champion made it clear that the decision belongs to his longtime friend and former partner.
Claudio Castagnoli keeps quiet on Sheamus’ AEW future
Speaking to the Daily Star, Castagnoli was asked whether he would like to see Sheamus join AEW following his WWE exit. While he admitted he would enjoy seeing his friend more often, he stressed that it is not his place to discuss Sheamus’ plans.
“I feel that’s not for me to talk about. I feel that is for him to talk about when he’s ready for it.”
Castagnoli acknowledged that the question is likely to keep following him, but he remained consistent in his response.
“I’ve stayed friends with him throughout. Of course, I would like to see my friends on a more regular basis, of course. But I do feel that is his to answer when he’s ready for it.”
Although he avoided discussing a possible reunion, Castagnoli did reveal that the pair have continued spending time together outside the ring. With his trademark sense of humor, he joked about their long-term ambitions after wrestling.
“Me and him have been doing a lot of training together, a lot of further education if you will… and what we eventually would really like to do is get our refereeing degree and then become the VAR.”
The comments are unlikely to silence rumors linking Sheamus with AEW. Veteran commentator Jim Ross recently voiced support for the idea, saying he would like to see AEW sign the former WWE Champion and reunite The Bar to strengthen the company’s tag team division.
For now, however, Castagnoli isn’t ringing the bell on a reunion or calling for the finish. The ball remains firmly in Sheamus’ court, and fans will have to wait until the former WWE star is ready to reveal his next move.
