Former WWE Champion Big E recently revealed Bryan Danielson played a major role in his singles push. He credited the current AEW star for helping change his WWE career. Back in 2020, Danielson was part of WWE’s SmackDown creative team while still wrestling. During that time, several stars received major opportunities, including Big E.
How Bryan Danielson helped Big E’s singles WWE career
Speaking with Westwood One Sports, Big E said, “For the longest time, I didn’t even know if I was ever going to sniff a world title opportunity. But man, I’m so grateful, and I got to give a lot of credit to guys like. If it wasn’t for Daniel Bryan, who was in creative at the time, he was the one who said, ‘Look, I think we should do something with Big E as a singles performer.'”
He continued, “When he gave me that opportunity, and creative said, ‘Okay, let’s do it,’ I ended up winning the IC title off of Sami. I dropped it to Apollo, but then after that, it wasn’t like, ‘Okay, you’re now cooling off.’ It was, ‘Okay, going from the IC title, now let’s get you moving towards that Money in the Bank.'”
Big E also reflected on eventually winning the WWE Championship from Bobby Lashley. He said, “When I first got signed to WWE, Bobby Lashley was one of those guys that I would watch. Many years later, 13, 14 years later, to be able to win the title off of him was really cool.”
