Seth Rollins Recalls Getting Knocked Loopy After WWE Move Goes Wrong

Seth Rollins still remembers one in-ring mishap that left him seeing stars.

Speaking on Good Morning Football, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion recalled a 2015 television match involving his on-screen security team, J&J Security, where a simple move went horribly wrong.

At the time, Rollins was aligned with The Authority and feuding with his bodyguards, Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury, in a handicap match. Rollins explained that Noble, who had primarily been working backstage as a producer, was thrilled to be wrestling on television again.

“Jamie hadn’t wrestled on television in years. He’d been a backstage producer… He comes in to get his on me finally, and he is so excited.”

Rollins said the planned spot involved Noble hitting a “kitchen sink,” a running knee to the midsection that is traditionally performed with the wrestler’s left knee. However, Noble used his right knee instead.

“It’s called a ‘kitchen sink’ in our world. It’s just a low knee to the gut. Every time you learn it, it’s with the left… For some reason, Jamie, in his excitement… he did it with his right knee.”

Seth Rollins Suffered A Head-On Collision During WWE Match

The unexpected change caused the two men to collide head-on instead of executing the move safely.

“I’m running into him, and he’s running into me. Dude, I lost it. I don’t even remember what happened after that. We just went face-to-face.”

Despite being dazed, Rollins quickly got back up and finished the match.

“I’m just laying on the ground… Then a second later I’m like, ‘Oh crap, okay, here I come.’ We moved on and got through it.”

When he returned backstage, several people checked on him after noticing he had been knocked loopy.

“I remember getting to the back and everybody’s like, ‘Are you okay?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, yeah, I’m good.'”

Rollins said Noble apologized afterward, admitting he should have used his left knee. However, he joked that Noble was so excited to be back in the ring that he didn’t even realize how badly the spot had gone.

“He was just so excited to be out there.”
