Mike Santana sends a message after his official WWE NXT arrival.
Following the expiration of his TNA Wrestling contract, Mike Santana made a special appearance on WWE NXT, his first as an official WWE Superstar. According to Santana himself, it was at this point that the intensity of the NXT brand seriously elevated.
“S*** just got REAL,” Santana wrote on X alongside footage of his NXT “debut.” As NXT commentators glaringly omitted his name, the former TNA World Champion made his way through the WWE Performance Center crowd to stare down the reigning NXT Champion, Tony D’Angelo.
Just moments before, D’Angelo had conquered Naraku in a Street Fight to retain his title. Given Santana’s subsequent arrival, it seems that he may be next in line for an NXT Championship match.
Santana is no stranger to the WWE Universe as he appeared on a number of NXT shows in 2025 and early 2026, thanks to WWE’s partnership with TNA. His latest WWE-related match saw him team with OTM to defeat DarkState on the March 31 edition of NXT. In June 2025, he challenged Trick Williams for the TNA World Championship on NXT as well.
As of this writing, the name of which Santana will carry in WWE is unclear. In his return, commentators simply referred to him as a “former TNA World Champion.” WWE’s social media team called him a “fresh face” to the NXT brand. In his last TNA outing at Slammiversary, he dropped the respective world title to Nic Nemeth.
