The Undertaker didn’t hold back when addressing an in-ring mistake made by then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger.
During an interview with the Krazy Train Podcast, Swagger recalled how a miscommunication at an international WWE live event led to a blunt reaction from his opponent, The Undertaker. Swagger remains grateful for it as he considers advice from “The Phenom” to be extremely valuable.
“I got to wrestle him in Mexico City in front of 19,000 people. He was doing his comeback and during his comeback he said ‘Watch the clothesline.’ I thought he said give him a clothesline, so he’s going to give me the big duck to flying clothesline, I clothesline Undertaker, and he just rolls over to me. He’s like ‘You got to know my s*** kid,'” Swagger said.
“He’s good people though. He commands respect, leader of men, leader of the locker room, leads by example. One of those people that I really can’t say anything bad about in pro wrestling. He gave me great advice. He was like, ‘This business is only worth it if you’re on top, so you can’t risk mistakes or f***ups to not let you get there.'”
The aforementioned encounter between Swagger and The Undertaker took place at a May 2010 WWE live event in Mexico City, Mexico. The Undertaker won via disqualification; nevertheless, Swagger retained the World Heavyweight Championship.
Swagger departed from WWE in 2017. He now considers himself retired from wrestling.
