Sting is the latest star to take part in the ice bucket challenge in support of All Elite Wrestling‘s Rebel.
In a post on social media, the legend can be seen lounging by the pool, complete with makeup. His daughter asks him if he’s ready for the challenge, and then talks about the cause and supporting. Sting is then doused in ice water, nonchalantly shrugs it off, and is then doused a second time to his surprise.
He then nominates a handful of other stars, including Dustin Rhodes, Mick Foley, his two sons Garrett Lee and Steven James, Darby Allin, and even AEW’s Tony Khan. Sting is the latest in a number of stars to take part in the challenge originally made for ALS awareness, with Britt Baker also doing it last week.
Rebel, real name Tanea Brooks, revealed that she had been diagnosed with ALS earlier this year. In a lengthy explanation, Brooks thanked fans for their prayers over the past two years as she underwent a “medical journey” to try to figure out what was wrong. In the end, Brooks revealed that doctors had diagnosed her with terminal ALS.
Brooks had been absent from the world of wrestling for over two years, and last year, she revealed that she had been undergoing various medical issues, including a lung cancer diagnosis. She also said she was struggling with some sort of then-un-diagnosed neurological issue that was impeding her ability to speak, walk, and use one of her hands.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that sees the loss of upper and lower motor neurons. The disease currently has no known cure.
