AEW’s Rebel to Receive Wrestling Honor Amid ALS Battle

AEW personality Rebel is set to receive a significant wrestling honor later this year. This etches a positive chapter in an otherwise difficult period in her life.

The recognition comes as the longtime performer continues her public battle with ALS, a diagnosis she revealed earlier this year.

While many fans know Rebel for her work in AEW, the upcoming honor celebrates a different part of her wrestling journey. One that helped establish her reputation long before she became a familiar face on national television.

Rebel to join 2026 River City Wrestling Honors Class

River City Wrestling announced that Rebel, whose real name is Tanea Brooks, will earn an induction into the 2026 class of RCW Honors.

The San Antonio-based promotion confirmed the news in a statement. They wrote: “RCW is proud to announce that Rebel Tanea Brooks will be inducted into the 2026 class of RCW Honors.”

The promotion also highlighted her accomplishments during her time there. They added: “A former RCW Women’s Champion with a 231-day reign, Rebel represented RCW with class and professionalism.” To which she responded, “I am honored and my heart is filled”

The recognition arrives just months after Brooks disclosed that she had been diagnosed with terminal ALS in early May. Since then, she has joined I AM ALS as an ambassador and received widespread support from across the wrestling industry. AEW President Tony Khan, along with several members of the company’s roster, have publicly shown support for her.

Rebel’s wrestling career spans multiple promotions. Nevertheless, her 231-day reign as RCW Women’s Champion remains one of the standout achievements that earned her this latest accolade. In a business where championships often change hands quickly, that reign had staying power — much like Rebel’s impact on those who worked alongside her.

The induction ceremony takes place on July 19 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Activity Center in San Antonio, Texas. Several other names will also join the 2026 class.

As Rebel continues her fight against ALS, this honor ensures her contributions to professional wrestling will be celebrated alongside her resilience and lasting legacy within the industry.
