WWE Star Says She May Have a Bone Chip After SmackDown Attack

Alexa Bliss has shared a positive, yet cautious, update after suffering an arm injury during a recent episode of WWE SmackDown.

While the former Women’s Champion is hopeful the recovery won’t take long, she revealed the damage may be more serious than it first appeared.

The injury has also left questions about when Bliss will be able to step back into the ring.

Alexa Bliss provides injury update following Jade Cargill’s attack

Alexa Bliss suffered an injury on the July 10 edition of SmackDown. Jade Cargill added insult to injury after attacking Bliss’ arm with a steel chair after handing her a loss. The assault left Bliss with a noticeable bruise, and she has since been wearing a brace on her injured arm.

Speaking on ESPN Vibe Check, Bliss explained exactly what happened during the post-match attack. She also highlighted how the injury could involve a bone chip.

“Jade got me. She bent my elbow backward with a chair, which is fine because I have bendy elbows, but it went a little too far and when she slammed the chair, I think there is a bone chip and this ligament is a little overstretched.”

Despite the diagnosis, Bliss sounded optimistic about her recovery and said the brace has become more of an inconvenience than the injury itself.

“It’s sore, but it’s more of an inconvenience with how bulky [the brace] is. It’s keeping things in place, it’s healing fast, and I’m hoping it’s just a couple of weeks and we’re good.”

Bliss also addressed the possibility of returning in time for SummerSlam but stopped short of making any guarantees.

“I don’t know. It just depends on my elbow and what… and what the plan is. You know, we don’t know really what the plan is for SummerSlam… but I know that whatever it is, I know at least Charlotte will be ready.”

For now, WWE has not announced a timetable for Bliss’ return. Meanwhile, Jade Cargill is preparing to compete in the ladder match for the interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. As Bliss continues her recovery, fans will be hoping this setback is only a temporary speed bump and not a long-term armbar on her return.
