Former WWE star Val Venis has gone viral once again after bringing his trademark Attitude Era persona to the independent wrestling scene.
This time, however, the spotlight wasn’t only on his in-ring antics, as a ringside announcer’s humorous reaction quickly became part of the story.
The exchange unfolded during a recent FireStar Wrestling event in New Jersey and soon made the rounds across social media, drawing attention from wrestling fans and media outlets alike.
Chris Riddle reacts after Val Venis’ FireStar Wrestling appearance
Venis, who competed for WWE from 1998 to 2009, returned to one of the character traits that made him famous. While wrestling on the independent circuit, the former Intercontinental Champion performed his signature adult film star gimmick, including an exaggerated, suggestive pelvic taunt aimed directly at the commentary table.
The moment prompted an immediate response from FireStar Wrestling announcer Chris Riddle, who later shared a tongue-in-cheek reaction on social media.
“That’s it.
I’m straight.”
The post quickly gained traction online. Riddle’s comment was clearly framed as a joke, poking fun at the over-the-top nature of Venis’ long-established character.
Venis, whose real name is Sean Morley, recently returned to wrestling after previously believing his in-ring career had come to an end. He wrestled his comeback match on July 23 at ISPW’s Legends of Wrestling Night in Wildwood, New Jersey, facing Rico Gold.
Following that appearance, Venis said he felt healthy enough to continue wrestling rather than treating it as a one-off farewell. Since then, he has been accepting bookings with regional promotions, bringing back the same persona that made him one of WWE’s most recognizable Attitude Era performers.
Outside the ring, Morley has focused on cannabis advocacy in Arizona under the name “Kaptain Kannabis” while also appearing at wrestling conventions alongside fellow legends from the 1990s.
For now, his latest independent run has proven one thing — the gimmick still knows how to generate reactions. Sometimes the loudest pop doesn’t come from a finisher, but from a perfectly timed punchline.
