Ric Flair Files Lawsuit Against Car Dealership – Details



The Charlotte Observer is reporting today that former World Champion Ric Flair has filed a lawsuit against a car dealership company based out of South Carolina alleging that its Freedom Suzuki dealership has used his name, likeness, and slogans in advertisings without his permission or endorsement.

The advertisements, which featured a character named “Captain Freedom” mentions Flair’s name and his trademark “Woooo!” and “To be the man, you gotta beat the man” in the course of an advertisement for the dealership mentioning th at Flair would be competing at a WWE scheduled event.

Flair’s attorney, Eric Bland, told the Observer that the dealership sought WWE’s permission for the ads, never received it, and proceeded to run them anyways.

Flair is seeking punitive damages of more than $75,000.
