Roode knees him in the back and applies a headlock, then Hardy gets up and throws a punch but Roode punches him back and hits a jumping neckbreaker off the middle rope. He kicks Hardy then picks him up but Hardy drops him with a jawbreaker, then follows with a Russian legsweep and a double legdrop. Hardy gets a two count then elbows Roode and hits a corkscrew flip for another count, then gets up and goes a for a Twist of Fate. Roode drops him with a spinebuster then tells the ref to back off and he goes for a fisherman's suplex but Hardy counters with a facebuster.
Hardy goes up top but Roode throws him down and climbs the turnbuckle, but Hardy counters with a jawbreaker and a Twist of Fate. Hardy goes up top and hits a Swanton and makes the cover, but Bully Ray appears out of nowhere and pulls the ref out of the ring. He hits a suicide dive to knock down Ray and the ref on the floor, then he slides in the ring to continue the match but Roode is no longer in the ring. Hardy looks around and sees Roode hugging his title on the floor and Impact comes to an end as we see Hardy looking upset and Bully Ray yelling back at him that he can't beat Roode.
