Original Sin Cara/Mistico Returns to Mexico; Set to Debut in AAA Main Event

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

sin cara luis alvirdeLuis Alvirde – who wrestled in WWE as Sin Cara, and in Mexico as the original Mistico – returned to AAA on May 17 in Tapachula and May 24 in Tuxtla Gutierrez, doing run-ins to promote the upcoming Verano de Escandalo show on June 7th. The match card for the show was recently announced, and Alvirde will be a part of the main event six-man tag match, teaming up with La Parka and Cibernetico to take on Perro Aguayo Jr., Parka Negro and Averno.

As we reported recently, Alvirde is expected to use the name El Misterioso during his time with AAA. The reason he is forced to change his name yet again is that Mistico was a huge star in CMLL for many years, but the company retains the rights to that name. Obviously WWE owns the rights to Sin Cara, but more importantly AAA feels that so much harm was done to that name that it would be easier to just give him something new.

The former Mistico has never worked in AAA prior to his most recent appearances, and should do some decent business for the company as he was bigger in Mexico than he ever got in the United States. Two of his opponent's for next month's debut – Perro Aguayo Jr. and Averno – were brought in specifically for Urive to ease the transition with guys he's worked with a ton in the past.
