Jim Ross to Announce MMA
Battleground MMA has announced that WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will be calling the action for their upcoming PPV on October 3. Ross will be tag teaming with former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen for the show, which takes place in Tulsa, OK.
Ross has been very outspoken about wanting to get into calling MMA shows, following more than 30 years in the pro wrestling business. One report noted that negotiations between JR and Chael have actually been ongoing for a few months. Ross will be something of a hometown hero, as he lives less than two hours from the venue, and as everyone knows, is a lifelong Oklahoma Sooners fan.

KILLAM: I’ve wanted Jim to go into MMA for the past few years, ever since it was obvious WWE had no intention of using his one-of-a-kind abilities on television. He did a boxing event over the summer to get his feet wet, and if all goes well with Battleground MMA – and one would expect that tag team to knock it out of the park – we can only hope it leads to some great great, big-time MMA announcing for one of the all-time greats.
Bruno Makes Rare Signing Appearance
WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling icon Bruno Sammartino recently took part in a rare autograph signing at Wizard World Chicago. Bob Mulrenin of Paul Heyman’s own HeymanHustle.com has posted a photo gallery of Sammartino at the event, as well as an essay documenting his experience.
