Mike Tenay Signs New TNA Deal

tnaAccording to a new report, Mike Tenay has agreed to a new deal that will see him remain with TNA Wrestling going forward, at least for the next year. That said, it remains to be seen what his on-air job will entail, as the current plan is to replace him at the commentary booth with former WWE announcer Josh Matthews.

Jim Ross had contacted TNA recently, asking for them to loan out Tenay for the upcoming Tokyo Dome show. JR wanted to run a two-man booth with him, in exchange for plugging the TNA product on New Japan pay-per-view, but the offer was turned down.

Adam Cole Injured?

Jay Briscoe retained the ROH World Championship over Adam Cole at this past weekend’s Final Battle pay-per-view in New York. However, according to Dave Meltzer the original plan was for Cole to win back the gold and end Briscoe’s streak, as the company is playing up the fact that he hasn’t been pinned or made to submit in roughly two years.

Cole may need to take some time off for shoulder surgery, although at this time it’s not known how serious that need is in the immediate sense. Either way, the concern was enough for management to decide that keeping the title on Jay Briscoe was a safer option for the time being.
