4/5 Wrestlezone Recap: WrestleMania Fallout, NXT Star Released, A Look Back at AJ Lee’s WWE Career, Samoa Joe’s Future

WWE WRESTLING NEWS

WWE ran an angle on RAW last week that saw Brock Lesnar injure the entire commentary team. After a commercial break, Byron Saxton was thrown out there by himself and looked like a deer in the headlights for two hours. Michael Cole attempted to work him through the show while backstage, and Jerry Lawler was sent out as a back-up. Apparently Vince McMahon was furious – why he thought a rookie could call RAW solo on the biggest show of the year is beyond me.

It’s possible there were issues between Steve Austin and Vince McMahon, and that’s why he wasn’t at last weekend’s WrestleMania PPV. WWE will also be hosting Talk is Jericho on the WWE Network soon, featuring John Cena, instead of the usual Steve Austin Show.

CJ Parker asked for his release from NXT after several years in developmental and going nowhere with a lame duck gimmick, and was granted it after WrestleMania Axxess.

Part of the plan to help boost the cred of the US title is to have John Cena defended it as frequently as possible; if not every single week on Raw, then close to it with sporadic Smackdown appearances as well.
