According to PWInsider.com, both Charlotte and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks are scheduled for tonight’s WWE RAW television taping in Atlanta, and tomorrow’s Smackdown taping in Birmingham, Alabama.
Over the past few months, Divas Champion Nikki Bella and her sister Brie have been running through the competition on the main roster, beating every active name in the division, at times using some questionable methods. Recently, the duo became a trio as Alicia Fox took the “if you can’t beat them…” approach and signed up for Team Bella, making the ladies even more difficult to overcome.
At last month’s WWE Money in the Bank PPV, Paige unsuccessfully challenged Nikki for the Divas title, after a truck load of “Twin Magic” shenanigans. Since then Paige has been looking for allies to take down Team Bella, coming up on the losing end week after week.
There has been speculation for months now that this was all leading to an “invasion” from the women of NXT, possibly led by Paige herself as the first ever NXT Women’s Champion, holding the title for 308 days. It would now appear that Charlotte and Sasha Banks may be her supporting cast.
As a Divas match has yet to be announced for this Sunday’s Battleground PPV, we could see the two make their debut on tonight’s episode of RAW, continuing the program on Smackdown and leading into some sort of Divas tag match involving everyone. A singles match between Nikki and Paige is also a possibility, with the NXT women there as back-up to keep Team Bella from getting out of hand.
Perhaps the one factor that would have kept Sasha Banks off WWE television in the past – being a current reigning NXT title holder – seems to no longer be an issue, as Kevin Owens broke onto the scene and held the NXT Championship for several months while competing in high profile WWE matches, before dropping the title to Finn Balor last weekend in Japan.
Of course, this is all speculation at this point, but all the signs do seem to point towards seeing Charlotte and Sasha Banks on WWE RAW tonight in Atlanta. Join Wrestlezone tonight to discuss the show and find out!
