Former WCW Superstar Crowbar Talks Vince McMahon Buying WCW, Being Paired w/ David Flair, Working with Terry Funk and More

Working with Terry Funk being a dream come true:

It was so awesome. One of my favorite matches of all time was the New York Knockout with Terry Funk and Ric Flair and that was a hardcore match before things were actually called hardcore. They used tables, chairs and the microphone and they wrestled too at the same time. We tried our best to kind of do that during our Hardcore match. We were kind of locked into “we want this prop used” or wanting to use a garbage can but we also tried to tell a story. It wasn’t just two people playing whack-a-mole on each other.

Is story-telling a lost art in television matches:

It’s harder and harder to tell a story with some of the matches getting shorter and shorter. On an Independent show you will see matches where guys can develop a story. On TV they have X amount of time, some of the matches are short but I’ve also seen one where they do give the guys time. As a whole when they allow the guys to do it you see some good stuff.

Being surprised that Vince McMahon bought WCW after Eric Bischoff seemed so close:

We were all really shocked because prior to the Vince McMahon purchase it really seemed like the Eric Bischoff purchase through Fusient Media seemed like that’s where the company was going. Eric was prepping for it. It seemed like a done deal and when the bomb dropped that TBS and TNT weren’t going to carry wrestling anymore that killed the deal. Why would you buy a wrestling company that didn’t have a TV deal in place? The next thing you knew, I got released and shortly there after we found out the actual purchaser of WCW would be Vince McMahon and he buys it for a “song and dance” and now he has all kind of content for the network and game over, Vince wins.
