Following reports that Prince Puma lost a retirement match at Lucha Underground’s Ultima Lucha Tres, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting Trevor Mann (Puma, aka Richochet) will accept a deal with WWE rather than re-sign with Lucha Underground.

According to sources, Mann was offered a lucrative deal by Lucha Underground, but he is going to take the WWE deal, and will work bookings for New Japan through the end of this year. It’s unknown what WWE might have offered in the deal, but they were reportedly looking to sign him badly and any other Lucha talents not locked into long-term deals.

As of now, Mann will go to WWE when legally allowed, which may be sooner than originally believed. It was previously reported that standard Lucha Underground contracts prevent talents from working for another televised promotion until six months after the last episode they appear in airs. This would lead you to believe Mann couldn’t appear in WWE until the end of 2017, since last week’s Lucha Underground season three tapings will reportedly air next summer. The Observer noted one thing that might work in Mann’s favor to get out of the stipulation earlier is that he wouldn’t go to WWE as a masked wrestler, so it wouldn’t be a marketing issue.
