UFC Fight Pass Early Prelims

Jim Miller (25-8) vs. Takanori Gomi (35-11)

R1: Gomi went for a kick early on, missed it, and they went to the ground. Miller in total control from there. Looking for a choke, settles for a body scissors. Miller starts throwing rights and lefts from the back position and it’s over.

Winner: Miller | TKO | 2:18 Round 1

Gegard Mousasi (36-8-2) vs. Thiago Santos (13-3)

R1: Mousasi came out early with a head kick and a low kick. Santos landed a low kick but Mousasi exploded with a flurry of punches before going to the mat. Mousasi caught him getting up with a huge uppercut and followed up with a hard right for the finish.

Winner: Mousasi | TKO | 4:32 Round 1

Diego Sanchez (26-8) vs. Joe Lauzon (25-11)

R1: Diego with a body kick and low kick early. He came out with a flurry but nothing connected. Lauzon backed him into the fence and landed a ton of punches, taking him down twice, but Diego got up both times, trying to get free.  Lauzon just kept on him with shot after shot; Diego tried to escape but was out on his feet and the ref had to call it after another brutal right and left, becoming the first guy to ever knock out Sanchez.

Winner: Lauzon | TKO | 1:26 Round 1

Huge, unexpected spin kick from Cain right to the side of the head, followed by a right to drop him. Browne got back up but after the kick it was all Cain. Velasquez took him down and just rained down punches until it was stopped.

Interim UFC Featherweight Championship

Jose Aldo (25-2) def. Frankie Edgar (20-4-1) by UD after five rounds to become the new Interim UFC Featherweight Champion.

Daniel Cormier (17-1) vs. Anderson Silva (33-7)

R1: Cormier takes him to the mat early and they jockey for position, with Cormier throwing a few elbows. Nothing going here really, with Silva just trying to defend from the ground for the majority of the round. Cormier got in some side shots.

R2: DC with a right hand. Silva trading with him but Cormier catches a leg and takes him down again. The crowd is booing the ground game. Couple side shots from Cormier. Lots of short elbows from DC. Eventually the ref stands them up and the crowed cheers. Big swing and a miss from Cormier into the corner and Anderson catches him with a knee. They trade body kicks and lock up in the cage to more boos.

R3: Both guys swinging wildly from the start, big misses, Cormier connects with a right, Silva with a knee. Right back into the clinch to tons of boos. DC tags him with a lot of little strikes to the body and head while Anderson is trying to get free. The ref stands them up again; he might be the most popular person in this fight right now. Silva with a big kick to the body and a flying knee as the clock winds down. Cormier takes him into the fence as the crowd boos to end the fight.

Winner: Cormier | UD | 30-26

Brock Lesnar (5-3) vs. Mark Hunt (12-10-1)

R1: Leg kick from Brock. Lesnar tries to take him down, Hunt evades. Brock gets the single leg and actually chases Hunt into the cage. Brock gets him in the clinch and throws some elbows. He transitions to the back position and fires off with a dozen shots to the side of the head, throws a knee to the side, and another dozen or so punches to the side. More big shots and Hunt is just eating them here. He barely manages to escape, and Brock takes him right back down anyways as the round ends. That was all Brock.

R2: Jab from Hunt barely connects. Lesnar trying to take him down, Hunt gets out of it. Hunt with a left hook to the body that grazes him. Brock backs him into the cage trying for a single leg, Hunt with a few shots to the side of the head. Not much in terms of significant damage done here. Both guys looking tired.

R3: Big right from Hunt at the start. Brock hooks a leg and gets his fourth takedown, starts hammering away with lefts to the head and body. They stay in the clinch as Lesnar just continues with a flurry of hard right hands, wearing down Hunt. Lesnar has him totally pinned down and is just reigning down big rights on the side of his head; dozens of punches. Hunt tries one last time to get out at the end but it’s just too little, too late, and Brock keeps pounding away on him until the round ends.

Winner: Lesnar | UD | 29-27

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship

Miesha Tate (18-5) vs. Amanda Nunes (12-4)

R1: Tate goes after Nunes trying to take her down, but she gets out of  it. Nunes with a hard, possibly illegal knee to the face as Tate was getting back up. Nunes hits a huge right hand and just goes right after it, hammering Tate with rights and lefts and busting her open badly. Tate tries to escape, just covered in blood, but Nunes takes her down and keeps firing off with punches. She locks in the rear naked choke and Tate taps out. New champion!

Winner: Nunes | Submission | 3:16
