Orange County Pledges $1 Million To Bring Wrestlemania Back To Orlando

Orlando is making a bid to host another Wrestlemania after they voted to pledge $1 million to bring the event back to the city.

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting Orange County Commissioners unanimously voted today for the funding that would bring Wrestlemania and the Special Olympics Summer Games in 2022 to the city. It was noted that $1 million of the total $3 million pledge from bed-tax (Florida Tourism ax) revenue would be marked to bring Wrestlemania back to the city in 2023 (WM39) or 2025 (WM41), with the other $2 million going to the Special Olympics.

The bid was made by a sports incentive committee working with the Visit Orlando tourism board. The $1 million is for expenses related to the bid for Wrestlemania, including having the county agree to pay WWE an $800,000 “site-bid fee” to consider Orlando as the host city for either event.
