Wrestlezone’s Angel Garcia recently spoke with Jake Something and Curt Stallion backstage at AAW’s United We Stand; you can read a few transcribed highlights and listen to the interview below:

WZ: How did you come up with the name Jake something?
JS: Well, a long time ago, pretty much everywhere I went, the promoter would give me a different last name. I made a joke of, being Jake something, for the boys. But then, as it kept going, I had a name for a while, doesn’t matter what it is, I didn’t like it. Then I was like, I do like the name, Jake Something. I don’t give a fuck what it sounds like, I’m going to run with it. like. My whole reasoning for it was, everyone else needs a name to get themselves over, like their weak, right? They need a crutch, to carry themselves, but I don’t need shit, All I need is me. I can strip myself from everything that everyone else is.
WZ: So, It kind of became, started as a joke? Like, What’s that guy’s name? Jake Something?
JS: When I talked about it jokingly forever ago, it was a joke, but then I was like, no I’m not making a joke. This is who I am, its an establishment of dominance, pretty much. I can be the bare essentials, everything stripped away, I can get that over, because that’s who I am, I don’t need anything else. That’s what that is. That’s what I run with.
WZ: What about you Curt?
CS: Well, I guess I’m weak, because I need a name—
JS: God damn right boy!
CS: Suck my toes, yeah, I had to watch that one *laughs*CS: I went with Curt Stallion because…
JS: My last name is Stallion?
CS: My middle name is Curtis, so I’m Curt, and Stallion is from, I really liked Roy Mustang from “Full Metal Alchemist”-
*Audible high five*
WZ: We all just high fived, in case you were wondering what that audio break was.
JS: We all high fived.
WZ: Gentlemen, you guys are super entertaining, you guys have an amazing chemistry, what do you attribute to that?
CS: The fact that we were randomly thrown together, and expected to do that? *laughs*
JS: I don’t know, I feel that a lot of times, that when people get randomly get thrown together, I feel they don’t have chemistry, or they try, try to force something, and him and I haven’t tried to force anything at all
CS: I think it’s because we understand our roles, like we know who we are, I’m the fucking guy that throws my body round, he is the guy that does the throwing, know what I mean?
JS: Curt, is going to go out there, run his mouth-
CS: And he’s going to back me up… I have nothing to worry about when I got a little Jake Something.
JS: Wrestling can write itself if you let it.
WZ: So, AAW tag titles?
CS: Yes, I would also like a run at the heritage title and world title because, not only do we deserve them, because we are the baddest motherfuckers in this company, along with, hardest working, best looking, best talking, best strutting, best beat the shit out of your ass, best everything.
JS: Everything you said, ended with an ‘and’, so I was like hyping you up-
WZ: Any last words for your fans? Where can we follow you?

CS: Yeah, I was going to be a jerk, I was going to be like, don’t spell my name with a K. Even if you do, I don’t give a shit; you’ll end up seeing my name in the internet, regardless.
