Last night Goldberg appeared on ESPN to address his WWE status and no announcement was made about his potential return to WWE. Dave Meltzer is reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon has had the match scheduled but isn’t very gung-ho about doing it. The report also notes that while WWE is ready to bring Bill back one more time there are still lingering negative feelings and politics regarding him.

WWE does want the match to happen so that they can promote WWE 2K17 and they feel Survivor Series is the best option. Future opponents for Brock Lesnar appear to be locked in at this point and apparently one of them is Shane McMahon. The match with Shane could take place at WrestleMania 33. At this time WWE seems unwilling to change Lesnar’s WrestleMania plans to include Goldberg. The match between Lesnar and Goldberg is being looked at as a one-off that is not leading to any kind of rematches between the two.
