Candice LeRae Says She Had A ‘Freak Accident’ At The End Of 2022

After a tag team match on the October 17 episode of WWE RAW, Candice LeRae missed several weeks, and she apparently suffered an injury during the bout.

LeRae was a recent guest on The Sam Laprade Show to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about her recent absence from WWE programming, LeRae revealed she had a freak accident happen that kept her out of the ring for a bit.

“I just had a freak accident happen not that long ago because we’re always talking a risk when we step into the ring,” LeRae said. “What we do, it is very taxing on our bodies. Having a son now, it’s a bit more scary for me because when I do get hurt, it affects him now. Before, I was like, ‘I don’t care. It’s myself. If it happens, it happens, and that’s the risk we’re taking.’ But now, of course, it does affect him as well.

“WWE takes such phenomenal care of us, the medical staff that we have, they do so much for us, and we do everything we can to prevent anything. So now, of course, in the back of my head, I don’t want to get hurt because I want to be a very present mother. I feel not as worried probably as you would think if that makes sense [laughs]. I feel like people have my back. I’ve been training for this for 20 years.”

When asked how it feels to be part of the WWE roster and wrestling weekly on Monday Night RAW, LeRae stated that it’s been her dream since she was six years old to be a WWE Superstar, so the whole situation blows her mind.

“It kind of blows my mind because it was my six-year-old dream to be a WWE Superstar,” LeRae said. “The fact that I’m living that dream, it never seems real.”

When asked how it’s felt for her to return to professional wrestling after becoming a mother, LeRae noted she thinks it’s a great time in society when women can have their cake and eat it too.

“We’re in a very special time in society in general, where women are able to kind of have their cake and eat it too,” LeRae said. “I recently, [about] a year ago, I had a baby, and I have this amazing life, was able to have him and come back to this amazing career that I used to think that I would have to sacrifice to be able to have a family. So I’m just super grateful that I get to have the best of both worlds. I get to have my son, and I get to work with my husband, so we get to travel together as well. It’s all very surreal.”
