Jade Cargill recently revealed how much her husband, Brandon Phillips, has influenced her attitude and career mindset.
Appearing on ESPN’s UnSportsmanLike, the former WWE Women’s Champion said she draws a lot of her confidence and swagger from him, noting that people often recognize that shared cockiness between them.
“Oh my gosh. Have you guys seen him on the field? I get my entire attitude from him. Everybody asks what the dynamic is like, and I’m like, do you guys not see the cockiness? Do you not see it?” Jade Cargill said.
She also mentioned that he encourages her to spend more time engaging with fans and signing autographs, something he used to do himself extensively, often staying long after events to make sure everyone felt acknowledged.

“The only thing he tells me to do, and I need to do better at, is signing more autographs. I love my haters, so I’m just going to keep them talking. That’s something he used to do too — he would stay after so long that I had to pull him off the field just so he could sign everybody’s autograph and make them feel special.”
Cargill added that she embraces her heel persona and prefers to keep interactions brief. However, his approach has helped her appreciate those moments more. She further explained that he supports her during difficult periods on the road, especially with the demanding travel schedule that comes with WWE events.
“Being a heel, I don’t feel the need to talk to everybody. I just keep it moving because time is money, right? But he’s helped me in a lot of ways.
“When I’ve been down or tired on the road — like right now as we’re about to go to Europe for Clash in Italy, Barcelona, Bologna, and other stops — he understands the travel, the grind, and everything that comes with it. Having someone who has lived that life and can relate to it really helps me a lot.”
Brandon Phillips was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in April. As for Cargill, she is set to challenge Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship at Clash in Italy. Both women are advertised for this week’s SmackDown in Barcelona.
