Winner and STILL WWE Women’s United States Champion, Chelsea Green!

Grade: B-

Standard TV match. Ruca got the pin on Green during a tag match which led to this match, but that does not a story make. Ruca did a great job selling her leg injury. That was quality stuff.

The Champ-Champ is Here

The Women’s North American and NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer says this is going to be hard for her since English isn’t her first language, but wrestling is her first language. Vaquer picked NXT because she wanted to be part of the best women’s wrestling division. After putting over Giulia, Vaquer says she wants to see who is going to step up to challenge her.

Jordynne Grace walks down to the ring and reminds Vaquer that she beat Roxanne Perez last week and wants to stake her claim as Vaquer’s first challenger. Jaida Parker teleports to the ringside and attacks Grace. Grace ends up against the barricade. Parker crushes Grace with Hipnotic against the barricade. Parker grabs a mic and congratulates Vaquer, telling her to enjoy this time as the double champ because she’s here to make Vaquer reap what she sows.

Grade: B

This writer wouldn’t have been mad at Vaquer vs. Grace, but Parker vs. Grace is way more intriguing. Parker is coming into her own in the ring and may be the best talker in NXT’s Women’s Division, so it may be Miss Parker’s time. Side note: Vaquer said this would be hard because English isn’t her first language, but she is selling herself short. Her promo was definitely better than half of what we hear on other wrestling shows.

Hank and Tank vs. Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura

Briggs and Inamura are in control early. Tank manages to take Inamura down with a lariat. Inamura traps Tank in the corner and lights him up with chops. Hank tries to make the save but ends u eating a chop as well. Hank and Tank take entirely too long setting up stereo dives, which ends with Inamura and Briggs dropping them on the apron. Inamura eventually lands his top rope splash for the win.

Winners- Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura

Grade: C+

This was a fun, quick match. Briggs looks to be reinvigorated, and Inamura has a wild charisma about him that is getting the NXT Universe in his corner.

Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match: The Culling (Brooks Jensen, Izzi Dame, & Niko Vance) vs. The Family (Channing Lorenzo, Adriana Rizzo & Luca Crusifino)

Stacks and the rest of the family attack The Culling during their entrance. Tony D’Angelo is watching from the backstage area. After a distraction from Vance, Dame surprises Rizzo with a diving codebreaker. Everyone lands a dive. Backstage, D’Angelo is attacked by the four masked men who have been terrorizing the NXT Roster. While Stacks and the rest of The Family are distracted by the attack taking place on the ‘Tron, Vance hits his finish on Luka for the win.

Winners- The Culling

Grade: C+

This writer loves faction warfare as much as the next person but… eh. Do we have a reason to care about the Culling? It’s nice to see Shawn Spears holding gold, but this group doesn’t have much bite. This just seems like a placeholder for getting Spears to Ricky Saints at Stand and Deliver.

Karmen Petrovic w/Ashante “Thee” Adonis vs. Jacy Jayne w/Fatal Influence

Petrovic lands a flurry of strikes. Jayne counters a kick in the corner with a kick of her own. Jayne works over Petrovic. After a double clothesline, Adonis slides a chair into the ring and tells Petrovic to hit Jayne. Petrovic says no and slides the chair out of the ring. Jayne destroys Petrovic with a Rolling Encore for the win.

Winner- Jacy Jayne

Grade: C

Where is this Adonis/Petrovic thing going? They are teasing a breakup, and those two just officially got together a few weeks ago. This match was just a means to get to tease the breakup between these two. Weird stuff.

Ricky Saints vs. Ridge Holland

After a lockup and struggle, Holland clubs the Saints‘ back. Saints fires up and lands a few punches. Saints escapes a slam and lands a beautiful dropkick. Holland feigns an injury and, in the confusion, lands a cheap shot. Holland works over Saints. Saints tries to fire up, but Holland cuts him off and lands a modified backbreaker. Saints rolls out of the ring. Holland drives Saints’ back into the ring apron. Holland continues his assault. Saints fires up and lands a tornado DDT. Saints hit a short version of the Rochambeau for the win.

Winner- Ricky Saints

Grade: B

This was a good showing for both Saints and Holland. Holland gets a lot of grief, but he plays the bully better than most. Saints sports a cocky attitude, but he still works as a sympathetic good guy. Saints fought from underneath and concerned a powerhouse tonight. This was a promising singles debut.

NXT Underground Match: Trick Williams vs. Eddy Thorpe

Thorpe and Williams immediately lock up and struggle. Thorpe takes Williams down and lands a few strikes. Both men roll out of the ring. Williams and Thorpe trade shots outside the ring. Williams sends Thorpe into the ring steps. Thorpe climbs back into the ring. Williams lands a right hand that sends Thorpe flying back out of the ring. Williams fires up with a flurry of punches and a series of bodyslams. Thorpe counters Williams into a triangle. Williams reverses the hold and powerbombs Thorpe out of the ring onto the crowd. Thorpe rolls back in and walks right into a Trick Shot. Thorpe drops like a sack of bricks. Williams lands a series of hammer fists. The referee calls for the bell. Thrope is out cold.

Winner- Trick Williams

After the match, Williams grabs a mic and tells Thorpe to learn how to squabble. Williams calls out NXT Champion Oba Femi. Femi walks to the ring. The light goes out, and Darkstate appears in the crowd. Je’Von Evans hits the ring and stands with Williams and Femi. Williams decks Evans. Femi, Williams, and Evans brawl as Darkstate watches from the crowd. In the confusion, Evans drops Femi with a diving cutter. Evans and Williams stare each other down.

Grade: B

WWE NXT Review:

Tonight’s show was solid, but it lacked any real defining moments to push it into “must-watch” territory. Trick Williams’ main event victory and the growing tension between himself, Je’Von Evans, Oba Femi, and Jaide Parker’s promo were the show’s biggest takeaways. This show would have come across much better with stronger storytelling across the lower card. As we march to Stand and Deliver, they will need to kick more of these storylines into high gear to build anticipation for the WrestleMania weekend event.
