The announced card is as follows:

  • TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys will appear
  • Joe Hendry vs. Mike Santana

TNA iMPACT Results

We get a Hulk Hogan tribute intro ahead of tonight’s episode of iMPACT. For those unaware, the Hulkster passed away earlier today at the age of 71. We then get a recap of Slammiversary from this past Sunday. Check out everything that went down at the July 20 PPV event right here.

Tom Hannifan welcomes us to the fallout from Slammiversary, where we kick things off with TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella’s in-ring promo segment. Marella reviews Slammiversary, noting both the TNA Knockouts and World Championships are with NXT. Santino hypes up his upcoming match for the NXT North American Championship against Ethan “Pagay.”

Enter Masha Slamovich. The former TNA Knockouts Championship calls out Jacy Jayne for stealing the title from her at Slammiversary. Slamovich says she wants her contractually obligated rematch next week on TNA iMPACT. Santino makes it official. The System are up next. Alisha Edwards bumps fist with Slamovich as The System makes their way to the ring.

Eddie Edwards says they sent DarkState packing back to NXT at TNA Slammiversary. Edwards says he’ll be damned if he lets outsiders come to their house and take what’s theirs. Brian Myers says TNA Wrestling is The System’s home. JDC says The System will be TNA’s soldiers if they’re going to war. Moose puts over Leon Slater for becoming the youngest X Division Championship in TNA history. The big man sets his sight on the TNA World Championship. Moose says he knows what he has to do next and that’s “whoop that Trick.”

The TNA World Champion is in the building

Trick Williams shows up with FIR$T CLA$$ by his side. Williams says Moose must be stupid for demanded a title shot because he lost his match at TNA Slammiversary. Trick recaps the success he’s had so far, calling him Trick-NA. He refuses to put his title on the line. Moose calls out Trick and FIR$T CLA$$ for a match.

Order 4 appears. Mustafa tells Trick not to call him out again or he’ll bury his ass like his name is The Undertaker. Mustafa and Order 4 walks their way to the ring. Ali continues to talk trash but Eddie Edwards knocks him down. It is chaos as The System and Order brawl inside the ring. Trick and FIR$T CLA$$ laugh on the stage as we cut to the commercial.

Another production botch?

This writer doesn’t know about you guys but I’m seeing The System and Order 4 exit the ring after their brawl. It appears we are still in commercial because there’s no audio. One of the camera crew members enters the ring and starts mopping the mat for the next segment. I don’t know if TNA just happened to have another production botch on live TV.

We’re back and The System are arguing amongst themselves after their brawl with Order 4, which for some reason made it to my screen during the commercial as well. Matt Cardona shows up and, once again, asks to join forces with The System. Santino Marella tells the faction to stop fighting and start focusing as he pairs the “ex-Edge Brothers,” Myers and Cardona, for a match.

Mara Sade and The IInspiration vs. The Elegance Brand

  • The finish of the match saw The IInspiration hit Heather by Elegance with The Idolizer for the win.

Winners: Mara Sade and The IInspiration

Grade: B+

I really enjoyed this match. It’s great seeing Mara Sade back in a wrestling ring after she was cut from NXT. TNA seems to be the right choice for the former Jakara Jackson. Sade looked great with the hot tag, delivering some hard-hitting moves. The hurricanrana into the swanton by M and Heather by Elegance should’ve ended the match but it didn’t for some reason. TNA seems to be high on Sade which, I think, is good.

TNA backstage corresponded Gabby tries to get a word with Mike Santana but he simply walks away. Gabby walks over to Indi Hartwell to get her thoughts on Tessa Blanchard’s actions at Slammiversary. Victoria Crawford appears and tries to form an alliance with Indi. Dani Luna pops up in the frame and tells Crawford to stay out of Indi’s way.

We get a backstage promo featuring Eric Young and The Northern Armory. EY claims Joe Hendry doesn’t want to get things right after his loss at TNA Slammiversary. Young says maybe he should put TNA back in its place by cleansing it of the NXT talent.

Leon Slater in-ring promo

Slater is in the ring and he’s got the classic TNA X Division Championship in his hands. The crowd chants “you deserve it.” Slater recaps his win over Moose at Slammiversary. He gives his flowers to Moose as one of the best to carry the X Division. Slater fanboys over AJ Styles. He says he was ready to fly when AJ’s music hit at Slammiversary. Slater calls himself a “record breaker,” a “moment maker.” Leon says he wants to bring X Division back to the days of Styles, Amazing Red, Samoa Joe, Daniels, Shelley, and Sabin. He wants to make the reign special. Slater then asks The Hardys to join him in the ring.

The TNA World Tag Team Champions are in the house

Matt Hardy puts over TNA fans for keeping the Hardy train steam rolling. He says the Hardys are the TNA World Tag Team Champions for the fourth time. Matt calls Slater their son and says the Hardys will continue to show up and show out with the support of the fans.

TNA International Champion Steve Maclin appears. Maclin shakes hands with Slater and the Hardys. He says he isn’t happy with outsiders coming into TNA and taking their world championships. He puts over Slater as the youngest TNA X Division Champion. Maclin calls Hardys his peers and his mentors. He says it’s on all of them to hold the line and puts out a challenge for anyone who dares to step up. The segment ends with all four bumping their titles as TNA prepares for war against NXT.

Jake Something vs. Mance Warner – No Disqualification

  • The finish of the match saw Jake Something plant Mance Warner with a Black Hole Slam for the win.

Winner: Jake Something

Grade: B-

A decent No DQ match on the fallout episode of TNA Slammiversary. Time constraints definitely prevented this one from getting a higher grade. Still, Something and Warner made the most out of the allotted time. The superplex to the stacked chairs looked brutal. Something needs to get into a title program post Bound for Glory.

We get a recap of Santino Marella’s confrontation with “All Ego” Ethan Page from this past Tuesday’s NXT. Both men will collide for the NXT North American Championship next Tuesday.

Jacy Jayne promo segment

Jacy Jayne is on the ramp with Fatal Influence by her side. She shows off the NXT and TNA Championships. Jacy says she comes from the deepest women’s division. She recaps her historic win at Slammiversary before namedropping some of the legends that’ve held the Knockouts Championship. Jacy then proceeds to call out the current Knockouts division, mocking the likes of Tessa Blanchard and Xia Brookside, before putting herself over again as the world champion.

The Good Hands vs. Major Bros

The finish of the match saw John Skylar pin Matt Cardona after Cardona was slammed by the “tallest member” of Mustafa Ali’s Secret Service.

Winners: The Good Hands

Grade: C+

A filler match before we get to Joe Hendry versus Mike Santana in the main event. Seeing Cardona and Myers work together brought back some old WWE memories. They should do this more often. Ali’s Secret Service is one of the most intriguing angles going on in TNA iMPACT. Let’s see what’s next in the feud between The System and Order 4.

Joe Hendry vs. Mike Santana

  • The finish of the match saw Santana catch Hendry with a schoolboy pin for the win.

Winner: Mike Santana

Grade: A-

This is what happens when you give two elite performers time to deliver, as Sheamus puts its, a banger. The sign of respect after the match implies we are getting Santana versus Williams for the TNA World Championship at Bound for Glory.

As for overall grade, tonight’s episode gets a B- from this writer – primarily for the lack of (good) matches. This was a segment heavy episode, something which TNA seems to be prioritizing in the aftermath of their partnership with WWE.
