The Young Bucks saw something special in Hangman Page long before any company or fan did.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Matt and Nick Jackson recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed. When asked about Hangman Page becoming World Champion for the second time at All In: Texas, Matt Jackson said he had to cover the smile on his face while being at ringside to witness that moment last month.
“It’s not lost on me how cool it has been to be part of so many of his big moments,” Matt Jackson said. “Being involved in the main event also gave me the privilege to prop myself up on a guardrail and watch the finish. I covered my smiling mouth with my hand. So proud.”
What made Hangman stand out to the Young Bucks?
While on opposite sides now on AEW programming, the Young Bucks and Hangman have been inseparable friends for almost a decade. Very early on, Matt and Nick realized that Hangman had the “it” factor that would make him an incredibly special performer.
“I knew Hangman had ‘it’ when I saw all the work he put into things outside of the ring,” Nick Jackson said. “The way he committed to a bit on Being The Elite. There was a story where he lost his boots, and he’d be barefoot everywhere he went–and this went on for months. He’d be barefoot at meet and greets, airports, and alleyways. It was crazy, but the way he outworked a lot of the guys we had on BTE, I knew he was special.”
Hangman Page will defend the AEW World Championship against MJF this weekend at Forbidden Door.
