Tony Khan seems one of the more accommodating bosses in this business, but rescheduling a major wrestling pay-per-view for MJF’s wedding could be a reason he’s well-liked by his employees.
Khan was one of the major names in attendance for MJF’s wedding last weekend. For those unaware, Maxwell Jacob Friedman married his girlfriend Alicia Atout in the presence of fellow AEW names such as HOOK, Taz, Sammy Guevara, Tay Melo, and Darby Allin.
MJF “cut his honeymoon short” to cost Mark Briscoe his match against Konosuke Takeshita on AEW Collision, setting up a grudge match between these bitter opponents at the upcoming All Out PPV.
It seems MJF isn’t the only one to do things his way. A new report from Dave Meltzer said Tony Khan rescheduled ROH Death Before Dishonor so he could attend Maxwell and Alicia Atout’s wedding.
Dave Meltzer on Tony Khan rescheduling ROH Death Before Dishonor
Speaking on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said Tony Khan “quietly moved” Death Before Dishonor from its previously announced broadcast date of September 5 to August 29 to attend MJF’s wedding.
“Originally, Death Before Dishonor was supposed to be Friday night and they quietly moved it up a week, and it was because Tony Khan wanted to go to Max’s wedding, and Tony Khan is not going to miss a show, Meltzer said. “So if he’s not going to be there, because they wanted him at the wedding, then in fact there cannot be a show on September 5th. I know a lot of people knew they switched it and didn’t know why but that’s the reason.”
