A lot of fans are not happy about Mike Santana dropping his TNA World Championship.
Mike Santana’s TNA World Championship reign came to a shocking end last night on TNA iMPACT. Santana kicked off Thursday’s live edition of iMPACT from Full Sail University. After a run-in with Ryan Nemeth, Santana agreed to put his title on the line in the main event.
During the match, Santana was distracted by a video of Nic Nemeth arriving with the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Trophy. The momentary distraction allowed several NXT stars, led by Robert Stone, to jump the TNA World Champion inside the ring.
The situation only got worse as Frankie Kazarian arrived to cash in his Call Your Shot Gauntlet Trophy. Kaz and Nic both won the contract at Bound For Glory. Already injured by Robert Stone during the assault, Santana failed to hit the Spin the Block lariat, allowing Kazarian to catch him with a roll-up for the win.
TNA fans react to Mike Santana’s world title loss
Fans took to social media to criticize the outcome of the main event. Some called out the NXT interference angle, while others expressed their frustration over Santana dropping the title on his first night on television as champion.
One fan tried to explain the outcome by tying it to reports of Mike Santana’s TNA contract ending in December. Another wondered why TNA booked Santana in a three-month title chase only to have him lose it so quickly.
Check out some of the reactions below:
Mike Santana defeated Trick Williams for the TNA World Championship at Bound For Glory on October 12. His reign lasted only 32 days before he dropped the title to Frankie Kazarian last night on iMPACT.
