Frankie Kazarian says he and AJ Styles are waiting on “one guy” to approve their match in TNA.
Following his shocking TNA World Championship win on the recent episode of iMPACT, Frankie Kazarian appeared on Busted Open Radio. During the conversation, he addressed the possibility of defending the title against the TNA original and current WWE Superstar, AJ Styles.
Frankie Kazarian mentioned that both he and AJ Styles want to have that match, but they are waiting on ‘one guy’ to sign off on it. However, he didn’t reveal who that person was.
“Absolutely excites me. AJ and myself both put it out there over the last few months. He’s ready to go, I’m ready to go, we just basically need one or two guys to sign off on it.
“I know AJ wants this to happen. I want it to happen. More importantly, the fans want it to happen. That’s what we’re in the business of, of giving the fans what they want and giving the fans what they want one more time because AJ is hanging it up.”
AJ Styles and Frankie Kazarian have a storied history
Speaking further, Frankie Kazarian stated that the stakes are higher than ever since he’s now become ‘the guy’ in TNA Wrestling, and hoped that ‘one guy’ does eventually sign off on their match.
“Our history speaks for itself. There’s nobody I respect more, there’s nobody I’m a bigger fan of, and with his history with this company and me now being the guy here, the stakes just went up. So this match could mean even more than it would have.
“We’re waiting on one guy to sign off, and I hope that guy does sign off on it because that would be a great button not only on both of our careers, but our friendship.”
While Frankie Kazarian is hopeful that a match against AJ Styles might happen before the latter retires next year, The Phenomenal One shared why he believes WWE won’t let him have a match in TNA.
