Booker T says AEW is a safe haven for wrestlers who are looking to retire.
During a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T addressed Chris Jericho’s current status with AEW. Talking about the speculations surrounding Jericho’s next move, Booker T suggested that the inaugural AEW World Champion might go back to Tony Khan’s company, taking a shot at AEW in the process.
Booker T cited Ric Flair’s lack of involvement in the company’s program to describe AEW as a haven and a retirement spot for wrestlers who might be thinking of ending their careers. He even jokingly mentioned that AEW pays people not to work and that he would’ve considered going there if it were around the time he was nearing retirement.
“I wish they had AEW when I was doing this thing. I would’ve camped out. Made me a little tent. I would be going nowhere, man. Because I’m serious, man, they pay you not to work in AEW.
“Ric Flair is still under contract, from what I’ve been hearing. What has he done? What has Ric Flair done for AEW? It’s a safe haven, it’s definitely a retirement spot if you’re definitely looking to wrap this thing up the right way,” Booker T said.
Booker T Has High Praise For Dominik Mysterio
Speaking on an earlier episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T heaped praise on reigning AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio, saying “nobody can do what he does“.
“I just think it’s really good TV. People are wondering what’s gonna happen with Dom, I don’t think people have to worry about Dominik Mysterio, this guy’s on a trajectory like I’ve never seen before in this business. The way he has taken that mantle and run with it, and Dominik is in his own lane, nobody can do what he does, so he’s gonna be good.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]
