Rob Van Dam is thrilled with the “birthday present” that Donald Trump just gave him.
RVD’s birthday is December 18. That also happens to be the same day that United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order that reclassified cannabis as a Schedule 3 controlled substance. Marijuana/cannabis had previously been a Schedule 1 drug. This meant it was classified on the same level as drugs like heroin, LSD, and Ecstasy. Schedule 1 drugs are considered substances with no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.
Mike Tyson, a major advocate for cannabis through his Tyson 2.0 brand, thanked Trump for signing the order. Now, count Rob Van Dam as one of the other cannabis enthusiasts for crediting Trump with making a great decision in regard to marijuana.
“Thank you @realDonaldTrump for admitting the medical effects of cannabis for millions of people, for the first time at your level in my entire life,” Rob Van Dam wrote on Twitter/X. “Nice birthday present. ?”
Cannabis use continues to be more widely accepted in the United States
Medical marijuana is currently available in more than 40 states. It’s also legal for recreational use in 24 states.
Rob Van Dam is one of the many advocates in the pro wrestling world for marijuana and cannabis. This list also includes names like The Godfather and Ric Flair, among others. WWE previously tested for cannabis as part of its Wellness Policy. However, the company has relaxed its stance on testing for it in recent years.
Despite RVD and Tyson praising Trump for signing the order, Trump is still a polarizing figure in wrestling circles. Mick Foley recently announced he was cutting ties with WWE due to their link to Trump, who made a controversial remark that was the “final straw” for the Hardcore Legend.
