WWE’s Finn Bálor Was High When He Came Up With Popular Gimmick

Finn Bálor revealed that the idea for a popular gimmick was born in an unexpected moment of inspiration while under the influence.

WWE‘s Finn Bálor teamed up with his Judgment Day stablemates, JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez, to take on Lola Vice, Mr. Iguana, and Nino Hamburguesa at AAA TripleMania 2025. The match featured a spot that saw Bálor counter Iguana’s signature puppet, La Yesca, by introducing his own puppet, Demonito.

Speaking with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on his What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast, Finn Bálor opened up about the spot with Mr. Iguana and revealed that he came up with Demonito after watching a match between Iguana and Santino Marella. He also noted that it was “twenty past four” when he came up with the idea, implying a 4:20 reference (for smoking weed).

“I got told I was working against Iguana in AAA. It’s the first time I worked against someone I wasn’t familiar with in a long time…. So I said, ‘Oh, I’d better do a little research.’ So, I went on YouTube, and it was twenty past four in the afternoon.

“I typed in Mr. Iguana, and the first match that came up was Mr. Iguana against Santino. Cobra vs. Iguana. And I said, ‘Damn, I need something like that.’ And then poof, like a lightning bolt, it hit me, ‘I need a demon puppet,’” Finn Bálor said.
