CM Punk Believes He Was Born To Play A Villain

CM Punk thinks he was destined to play a villain.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk sat down with ABC News’ Linsey Davis to promote his upcoming vampire action horror movie Night Patrol. He plays one of the members of the LAPD’s night patrol task force, who are actually a group of vampires targeting the residents of a local housing project.

When asked if he has fun playing the bad guy, CM Punk said he believes he was born to do such roles.

“I feel like playing a villain is something that I was possibly born to do. You can have a lot more fun. The bad guys always have better weapons, cooler vehicles. I think you can be more grandiose. Heroes are more centered.

“I think villains can spread their wings a little bit more. Do and say crazier, wilder things, and I do think in life everybody has encountered some type of villain, and then they remember how that made them feel. So, it’s like an emotional heartstring I like to tug on and get people to react,” CM Punk said.

CM Punk wants an acting career that mirrors Dave Bautista’s

During his recent appearance on That Hashtag Show to promote Night Patrol, CM Punk opened up about how he landed the role and shared his experience working alongside stars like Justin Long and Dermot Mulroney.

“It was literally a dream,” CM Punk began. “This fell into my lap. I was supposed to read for Ryan Prows, the director, and once they heard I agreed to read for him, they decided, ‘Okay, then nevermind, he’s got the job.’ I come on set, and I’m just surrounded by wildly talented people in front of the camera, behind the camera.

“I get to work with Justin Long and Dermot Mulroney extensively. They paid me to be able to have fun and learn from actors that are better than me. And it’s only gonna help me grow, and I think this movie is gonna open up eyes to my talent, but also the litany of talent that is in this movie.”

CM Punk then noted that he’d like to follow Dave Bautista in exploring other genres, including dramas and comedies.

“Yeah, I cast a wide net. I want to do everything like Dave Bautista. Currently shooting a rom-com in Calgary, which I think is gonna turn a lot of people’s heads, too. There’s no such thing as small roles. I want to jump into every single opportunity that gets thrown my way and have fun doing it,” CM Punk said.
