Liv Morgan Is Shocked WWE Let Her Take Role In New Movie

Liv Morgan received a pleasant surprise last year.

WWE star Liv Morgan will grace the silver screen in Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo. According to Morgan, she landed the role after reviewing the film’s script and nailing her audition. Despite that, she admittedly still wasn’t sure if WWE officials would let her accept it.

“When I tell you that I was shocked that WWE let me [play the part],” Morgan said on What’s Your Story?. “I remember asking Hunter (Triple H), I was like, ‘Hunter, do you like this for me?’ He was like, ‘If I didn’t think it’d be good, I wouldn’t let you do it.’ And I was just like, ‘Okay.’ He gave me some advice because he had done some films. So he was like, ‘Just go for it.’ I was like, ‘Yes, sir.’ Then I was on my way to Japan, and then I went for it.

“I just wanted to be brave,” she continued. I feel like life is so short. I’d heard—let’s say you are 80 years old, but you got to wake up today and be 25 again, how would you tackle life? So that’s how I saw this opportunity. It was bold, but I was like I want to be brave. Let’s just tackle life. I don’t care what people think about this. I don’t care what people say about this. I’m getting to experience something that I never thought I’d experience. I just want to be brave, and I just want to try all the things.”

What is Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo about?

Starring alongside Shun Oguri and Lily James, Morgan spent 17 days in Japan to film Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo last year. The movie is described as an action thriller. It tells the story of a corrupt lieutenant (Oguri) who gets entangled in a case of the politician’s missing daughter (Morgan) after an FBI agent (James) arrives in Tokyo.

“The WWE Universe is going to see me in a way that I don’t think they’ve ever expected to see me. But it was such an amazing experience,” Morgan said.

As of this writing, the release date for Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is unconfirmed, though Morgan has heard of it potentially being in October 2026.
