Sol Ruca spoke after she became the number one contender for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.
This week on NXT, Zaria and Sol Ruca faced Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair in a special tag team match. The rule was clear whoever scored the winning pin would earn a future title shot against Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s title.
For months, tension has grown between Ruca and Zaria. Miscommunication has cost them big matches in the past, including title opportunities. Last week, their issues worsened when Ruca accidentally hit Zaria with the Sol Snatcher.
Before this week’s match, the two spoke backstage. Ruca tried to clear the air and said last week’s mistake was an accident. She told Zaria they make a great team and that one of them needed to win. Zaria responded that it was her time and told Ruca they should stay out of each other’s way.
During the match, the tension was obvious. Zaria hit her finisher on Wren Sinclair and looked ready to win. However, she accidentally collided with Ruca, and the referee ruled it a tag. Zaria did not realize she was no longer the legal competitor. Ruca took advantage, hit the Sol Snatcher on Kendal Grey and scored the pin.
With that, Sol Ruca officially became the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. However, Ruca admitted she feels torn about the situation with Zaria.
Sol Ruca admits she feels conflicted after earning WWE NXT Women’s title match
Speaking backstage, Ruca admitted she feels torn about the situation. “I’m the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship right now. I’m honestly a bit conflicted. I mean, on one hand, I told you I was coming for her title this year, and I’m doing just that.”
“On the other hand, you know Zarya is upset at me because I keep getting these opportunities, and I’m just in a really conflicting headspace right now. I don’t know whether I should be happy or concerned or what, but I should keep moving forward and see you at A Dream in a few weeks. So that’s all I got.”
Meanwhile, Zaria reacted to the situation on X, formerly known as Twitter, writing, “I don’t even have the words to describe what I’m feeling right now….” While Ruca now shifts her focus to Jacy Jayne and the upcoming title match, the growing tension with Zaria could become an even bigger story in the weeks ahead.
